A friend of mine, Dave, wanted to get together and do some photography during the day on Thanksgiving Monday. He really didn’t have a plan at first, but I figured why not? Photography is always fun, and sometimes the challenge of finding subject matter is even more exhilarating. But that’s where Alisha-Marie comes it. She volunteered to model for us. She’s only ever done one amateur shoot before and for an amateur, man she’s good! We had a great time working together and got some amazing photography out of the shoot. I’m pumped to work with her again in the future. Here are my selects:

Trash the Dress sessions have become a common after wedding photo shot for creative and spontaneous brides. The trick is not destroying THE dress, but destroying ANY dress. A quick fun trip to Goodwill can turn up an outdated wedding dress for cheap that would work perfectly for a trash the dress session. Then its just a matter of finding an awesome location. Beaches are perfect but just about any body of water will do. They can also be shot in urban areas, especially during or after a rainfall. The whole point is to get crazy and creative and to create some of the most interesting imagery you can.
This time the shoot involved 5 models in 5 different dresses with an outlandish number of photographers. So there were limitations on the creativity, and we as photographers were crawling all over each other trying to get a clear shot at the angle we wanted. It wasn’t the ideal situation, but I’m still really happy with some of the shots I got, and naturally I’m posting those here for you to enjoy.
This is Frankie, she was my favourite model that day, and I hope we can get to work together again.

Lucky penny anyone?

I spent my evening last night shooting a corporate event for Investor’s Group in Niagara-on-the-Lake. It was held at the White Oaks Resort and Spa, which happens to be absolutely gorgeous. The rooms were luxurious, everything was well laid out with significant attention to detail, but the most amazing thing was the service. The staff was wonderfully helpful at all stages of my experience with them, and as a result I would highly recommend checking out White Oaks whether you’re just looking to get away for a weekend or planning a business gathering. The shoot went well, everyone at Investor’s Group was awesome and we got some great shots of everyone.
Now, as promised I have a few more pictures to share from my shoot with Lisa. If anyone would like to see the whole book that I put together, just ask. I’m really proud of it and would love to show it off.
Let me know what you think!!

So its been forever since I last blogged. A few things have changed.
I am finally officially a full time employee of Henry’s, no more of this part time gig! Whoo hoo benefits!
I went to Cancun with my good friend Peter for 5 days, had a blast leaving the snow behind. It was a short vacation (aren’t they all?) but a really good one. It was also absolutely necessary after the insane month of december I had at Henry’s. Retail is crazy at Christmas time, and don’t even get me started on Boxing Day.
More importantly though, I have a couple of new pics to share! These are from a shoot I did some time ago for my good friend Lisa. She wanted some sexy pictures for her boyfriend, to give to him for his birthday. I thought it was a great idea and of course agreed to shoot them. We ended up printing him a large 56 page book as a keepsake, and he absolutely loved it! I’m going to post only a few today, and a few more in another post a couple of days from now, so check back soon! Some of them are too racy for the wonderful world of the internet and those will remain offline, but at least I can share a few. Keep in mind Lisa is not a model, she’s just a friend of mine and I think she did an incredible job!

In the middle of June I was invited along to do a model shoot with a group of photographers mostly hailing from Niagara. We met in Hamilton (for a change of pace for the Niagara group) which meant that it wasn’t such a long drive for me. There were several models, and in total about 20 photographers. The location was Rok Bar Nightclub in Hess Village, Hamilton. This is a brand new club that had only been open for two weeks. It was luxury renovated inside and was absolutely beautiful. It’s a 3 storey club with wildly different atmosphere on each level. We had full run of the club for about 3 hours, with only one request: take some pics of the models in the Rok Bar uniform. “No Problem!” It was great working with so many other photographers, even when things did get a little over crowded. We had a great time networking and making friends, and got some great pictures while we were at it. Here’s a few examples.

It was a relaxed atmosphere as Maui is clearly showing us.

The owners wanted the pictures of the girls in uniform to be “fun.” Well we had fun, and so did the girls.
